PREVIOUS PROJECTS

Climbing Out empowers people who have been through a life changing trauma to take control of their own mindset, actions and behaviours. We do that through our fully funded 5 day mental resilience Programmes, which combine outdoor activities and personal development coaching in a setting where long-term supportive friendships can be formed. Climbing Out is passionate about empowering people to manage their own mental wellbeing, take responsibility for their lives moving forwards and fulfil their potential. Most importantly, we believe this gives participants the opportunity to be happy.

The funding that we received from The Mountbatten Memorial Trust enabled us to offer places on our level 2 Programme in Scotland where a group of people from multiple backgrounds, locations and trauma experiences came together to support each other in tackling some of the iconic peaks of Scotland and developing their skills in managing their mental wellbeing.

The Willow Trust

The Willow trust

Over the past 33 years the Willow Trust have provided days out on the Gloucester – Sharpness canal, on their two purpose built, fully wheelchair accessible canal boats, for over 210,000 disabled or very ill children and adults and their carers. As has always been the case, nobody has paid a penny. This has been made possible by the kindness and generosity of Grant Making Trusts like The Mountbatten Memorial Trust.

Happy Days Children’s Charity helps children across the UK aged 3-17 who have either a learning difficulty, ongoing chronic or acute medical conditions, children who have experienced domestic violence/abuse or neglect and children who act as a young carer for another family member to access leisure time activities to a wide range of destinations and family respite break holidays. The help from The Mountbatten Memorial Trust enabled us to benefit 74 children much sooner than planned who all thoroughly enjoyed their experiences.

Dressability_Logo

Dressability provides a specialist garment adaptation service on behalf of people of all ages with a range of disabilities and the elderly, empowering our clients to overcome barriers, challenge perceptions and fulfil their potential in clothing in which they feel comfortable, confident and secure.

Our highly skilled dressmakers alter and adapt clothing to increase independence, promote selfesteem and ensure that our clients regardless of their disability have access to clothing of their own personal choice.
Promoting dignity and independence is at the heart of everything we do.

The demand for our service continues to grow and publicity such as an article in a national healthcare magazine recently suggests that this trend will continue as we become more well known. Our recent year-end figures show an increase in garment adaptations of over 30% last year and a 52% increase in client’s accessing our service.

The very generous grant from The Mountbatten Trust will enable us to meet this additional demand for our service and continue to grow the charity offering our service to more and more people each year. It is very much appreciated by everyone at Dressability.

The kind donation of £3,000 from The Mountbatten Trust enabled us to directly support 3,888 young people.

Ruby's Fund has been supported by The Mountbatten Memorial Trust in their work to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families and carers at our fully inclusive sensory centre in Congleton. Ruby’s Fund also offers outreach family support across Cheshire East in partner settings and in our mobile sensory bus. Support is inclusive and values individual diversity. Our centre has a community cafe with softplay area, sensory garden and sensory room.

Ruby’s Fund received a grant of £3000 from The Mountbatten Memorial Trust to fund a piece of sensory equipment and to help to continue our work supporting children with
SEND and their families.

Euan’s Guide is the award-winning disabled access charity. We’re best known for EuansGuide.com, the disabled access review website where disabled people, their families, friends and carers can find and share the accessibility of venues around the UK and beyond. The website shares thousands of experiences and is the go-to tool for many disabled people.

Thousands of people use Euan’s Guide every month to find and share disabled access information. We often get told that just one review from someone with similar access requirements can give someone else enough confidence to visit somewhere new. We’re a small but mighty charity and the support from The Mountbatten Memorial Trust has enabled us to invest in our technology making it more secure, more accessible and more inclusive.

The Mountbatten Memorial Trust’s donation has allowed Rescare to respond to a steady stream of calls to its helpline, and to offer a befriending service to callers in need of more general support.

Calls to the helpline cover a wide range of issues, with a particular focus on residential provision and levels of support for people with autism and/or learning disabilities (and on how decisions about them are made, and who is consulted).
